英语中很多表示时间的名词都可以作状语，所以不需要加介词。因此，“今天早上”，“那天早上”可以表达为：“this moorning”或“that morning”

虽然morning与介词in连用，如： in the morning但是morning前面加上指示代词或形容词之后就是特指“某一天”的早上，如果使用介词，就要改成介词on了。

因此，即使要加介词也是加介词on,而不会有in this morning这样的短语。在习惯上，this morning是不加任何介词的。

that morning也可以直接充当时间状语，因此可以不加介词，如果要强调“就在那天早上，可以在前面加上介词on。因此才会有on that morning这样的短语。

两种用法的例句：

On that morning, over 40 people went past this young Briton -- I was one of the first.

在那个早晨，超过40人从那个年轻的英国人身边经过---我是开始那几个人的其中一个。

On that morning or other mornings?

在那个早晨还是在其他早晨？

但是大多数情况下是不加的：

The two of them wasted no time that morning.

他们俩那天早上一点时间都不浪费。

We caught enough fish that morning for lunch.

那天上午我们钓了不少鱼供午餐用。
